Joaquin Miller Elementary is special for many reasons, and much of what makes JM special is funded by the PTA.
Some of the key initiatives funded by the PTA include:
- Our Library program, led by beloved librarian Cindy Gullickson;
- A state of the art Computer Lab, revamped in 2011 with PTA funds, led by longtime JM community member Helene Moore;
- Physical Education for each student, taught by Noel Lingad – known fondly to students as “Mr. L.”
The PTA also supports tutors and teacher assistants in each class, a ceramics class during the year and a music program for 3rd graders.
One of the most memorable days of the year for the students in grades 1 through 5 is Living History Day; each grade has their own unique day, and the funding comes from the PTA.
This is only the beginning of the work your PTA does! We appreciate the time, energy and money you contribute to our kids’ school.
